How One Poppet Inspired Poppetry

Salam!

I am a mum to two little poppets and a designer / design director by profession.

I embraced Islam more than a decade ago. As I said the Kalimah Shahadah, it felt like a big weight was lifted off my shoulders and I will never forget the feeling of awe and total submission to Allah.

When I had my first child, Big A, I wanted to decorate her nursery with designs that would inspire an interest and love for Allah and for Islam.
I couldn't find anything that was modern, relevant
and inspiring for a little girl.
And as she was growing up and discovering the world around her, I wanted to teach her and show her the beautiful values of our religion through well-made designs and toys.
There were a lack of choices I felt was educational AND looked good enough to be displayed so that it can be daily reminder of Allah.
Call me picky! But this is what being a designer does to you!

Which is how I started creating my own modern Muslim prints and products for little ones! Nowadays, seeing her interest in copying my designs with felt-tip pens and paper and talking about how grateful she is to Allah for making the world a beautiful place to live in fills my heart with immense love and gratitude.

Now that I have Little A as well, I am more determined than ever to design Islamic products which has even more of an educational element to it. InshaAllah, this is a range that will expand as the children grow up.

What I have discovered, Alhamdullilah, is that this is as much a learning journey for me as it is for them. I have also been inspired and humbled by the wonderful community of Muslim mums (and dads) that I have come to know on Instagram, as well as customers who have shopped previously from me before this website was launched.

So let's do this together. Let's inspire faith in our young. I am open to ideas and collaborations. May Allah increase our knowledge so that we can (accurately) share it and in the process cultivate the love of Allah and of Islam. Ameen.

In the meantime, welcome to the Poppetry family. :)
